Do you mean "human condition" or "human nature"? I don't think we can ever eliminate the all-too-human impulse to kill each other off. All we can do is acknowledge its existence, then work to manage and contain it. I think the human condition in general over the centuries has vastly improved, and the average citizen is healthier and has more opportunities to live better than ever before - and I don't mean just in the U.S.

When you said "we" I assumed you meant those of us on the side of truth, reason, democracy, justice, and respect for the inherent rights of the individual.

The horrors you list were caused by the other side. They don't come within my definition of "we."
