I will agree with you on almost every point--and I really LOVE the Up With People description. Perfect.
I disagree about Tamyra's pitch and loss of line. She and Kelly have phenomenally stable voices. The ability to alter a melodic line within the mode is a talent. You may not have liked her changes, but I think they were within acceptable bounds, whereas I thought some of the earlier singers spent so much time "ornamenting", they totally lost their way, had no clue what they were doing, but were just imitating the current style mindlessly (the more runs the better-- what melody?). Now that I think about what you said about Kelly's interpretation, I realize that the one thing that DID bother me about Tamyra's performance was that it hit me as slightly melodramatic. And I thought she overused that gravelgertie thing-- it makes me think of the traditional "tenor sob".

One of my favorite profs used to illustrate vocal ornamentation, make it come alive for the students, by using Barbra Streisand instead of, say, Kiri te Kanawa, singing Handel. He thought Barbra was one of the best. He then would have them bring in their favorite pop artists who altered and ornamented. (this story has no real point) Then he would move them on into Baroque ornamentation techniques. The similarities are interesting and not something I ever had thought about before that class.

I also had a vocal coach for eight years who was an acknowledged genius at ornamentation. I did a Handel recital and learned a lot about "tasteful, but original" ornamenting.
IMO only of course, Tamyra usually nails it. But it is sure a question of taste and preference.

One of the things I admire most about Kelly is her ability to NOT push her chest voice and switch registers with enormous ease, something a lot of female voices can't do. Her range is incredible, but I agree that was a poor choice for her and it occasionally did feel pushed. Nikki has pretty severe limitations compared to Tamyra and Kelly-- and I have a feeling she can't do anything BUT sing chest. And her pitch is really wobbly and tends toward flat. She has beautiful eyes and smile.

RJ, RJ, RJ. Don;t you just love those initials?
I just LIKE the kid.
His voice is sweet. I have never been impressed with Justin's voice quality especially, but my training is with the female voice, and I struggle when I coach male voices, so I can't really give you any real reason. They just sound ordinary to me.
My favorite Irish tenor, by the way, is Ronan Tynan. He looks like a large imp and sings like a god.
