Now everybody and his grandmother are jeering at european banks - "look at those dodos, cant organize a booze-up in the brewery". Losses, wherever you look, CS, Allianz & Dresdner, Deutsche B, Barings, Spanish should round the corner... One thing is undisputable - the losses are not due to cost over-runs in their canteens. What else could it be now (think!)... Europe is far from being an island, full of happy,ignorant, out-of-this-world savages; together with its banks it is cruising around exactly the same maelstrom as US and say C and JPM - just some other point on the perimeter. The same black hole.
