A definite clear reason to leave war as the very last option

Just in passing, I will note that personally, I think leaving war as the very last option is a good default position. The US may very well be able to roll into Iraq with minimal US casualties, there were only 300 or so in Gulf War I and I don't really think urban fighting in Baghdad is in the cards. But: Iraqi casualties will likely be in the 10's of thousands, most of them probably conscripts given Hobson's choice of dying for sure now or being cannon fodder later when they were inducted. And after the war is over, the Iraqi population is allegedly all going to gratefully and graciously accept whatever ex-pat based government the CIA can come up with? Because all the carnage was really good for them?

Hey, it could happen. There are lots of things that could go wrong, though.
