I think NTAP will be a long term winner, but with a p/e over 700 and price to cash flow over 18 (all before today) on growth estimates of 2-5%, todays rally must be as much short covering as anything because the news wasn't terrible, IMO.

Smith Barney raises NTAP to Buy. Salomon Smith Barney (I leave out the "Salomon" because a relative is an old Smith Barney Harris & Upham guy who thinks a lot of the Salomon people are scum)just upped NTAP from 3H (Neutral -High Risk) to 1H (Buy - High Risk). I've read the report by the analyst H. Clinton Vaughan; it's quite positive. He refers to "NetApp's current 32x PE multiple as being "one of the lowest levels since its IPO back in 1995." Also: "We view NetApp as one of the key emerging suppliers of storage subsystems and recommend investors buy the stock ahead of its upcoming product launch and first ever analyst day on October 1st."

I bought some January $10 calls this morning for $1.35. Been out of this stock for a while, although the wife has some shares at $10 and $15 from the fall. She bought the $10 shares on Sept. 10. Different world then. Go figure.

Best of luck to UF and all.
