semiconeng - glad to see you are posting here again. I believe the same "Dresden insider" who said mass production (i.e., 50%) of Hammers was starting ~September 9 also said that the production process took 10.5 weeks, including packaging and test. I may have remembered wrong, so if anyone knows, please correct me. That would put a torrent of Hammers on the market around Nov. 21

--10.5 weeks sound awfully quick to me, even NOT including packaging. You might be able to get 1 Hot Lot through the Fab in that timeframe, IF you held Process Tools open waiting for it. Or normal production, IF you skip ALL the inspection steps on every layer (Very High Risk, bad yield). I don't believe normal 10.5 weeks processing including packaging, but what do I know, I've only been involved in making the durned things for > a decade.

But certainly AMD is already at ~500 wafers per week now if they are going to 2500 WPW in September

--I don't see that certainty. If AMD had already been starting 500 wspw, IMO they would have called that "Volume Production", and not said "in 4 weeks". No, I don't think they currently have 500 wspw running on Hammer. More likely a few Engineering lots. I could be wrong.

So either everything from this guy is a farce, or AMD has pulled in the schedule.
Petz

--No Comment. Anyway, I have a feeling my guess would be exactly opposite everyone else's on this thread. No sense stirring that one up eh?

I wouldn't believe it if I were you. If they say they're going to be in production in 4 weeks it means they're waiting for a new stepping and they HOPE that it will be production worthy. If they had production worthy silicon they'd be in production now. Why would they be waiting for 4 weeks?

10.5 weeks total for Dresden and Malaysia, including transport between the two plants?
