I've worked in corporate situations. Nobody, nobody, thinks about productivity. They think about maintenance costs and such.

I've got a buddy who's the head IT guy for a biotech equip company. He says as of a few years ago, half the SPX was still running old IBM mainframes with crappola like COBOL.

He says techs migrate quickly -- when they have the money. Other sectors tend to wait for something to blow up. Until then they patch everything together with software from BEASt.
