Intelspeak for -- No need to purchase AMD chips whatsoever as we'll have a technological lead for at least the next three years.

Intel knows that the Opteron/Clawhammer represents the first formidable challenge for them in the x86 environment and they will stop at nothing to create FUD.


Like you said, I saw it as a PR piece for INTC. I'm sure they're not happy with all the attention Opteron/Hammer is getting. Its probably seems like deja vu for them going back to when the Athlon came out.

However, why I thought it was important to post is the cost savings and lower margins it will produce for INTC........its why AMD needs to get to that production metric as soon as INTC does. Originally, that's the area [lower margins] where INTC got the jump on AMD early on and its the only area now where INTC still can hurt AMD.
