I also believe the options issue is overblown. I think this because so many people wanna believe that CEOs are in many cases overpaid, and options just adds fuel to that. I think most investors (including me) do not go through the financials of the companies they are invested in thoroughly enough, and so they expect companies to make these kinds of expenses clearer.
If an investor were to read and totally understand the balance sheet, as well as all that is writen in, say, the annual report, wouldn't that be enough in most cases?
