So, if options won't have any value, where's the incentive to the receiver, and what's the point in issuing them at all? Couldn't Microsoft just dispense with issuing options if they aren't much more than a transparent confidence scheme run on their prospective employees?

BTW, I have some way underwater ESOs, like at the bottom of the Marianas Trench. I need never worry about them being of value. The difference was that I knew the odds favored them remaining worthless and recognized their issuance as a phony attempt by my employer at the time to mislead me into believing I was getting something of value above my normal compensation. They were not motivating, they just affirmed how cynical upper management was by making what they probably knew even then was a empty promise.

Options are basically a non-event at today's stock prices, let alone at $30. I point this out because there are still people that think the "cost" of options is a big deal.

MSFT spent $6.1 billion dollars this last fiscal year buying back stock to offset dilution..... yet couldn't offset dilution completely....

i point this out because MSFT only made $7.8 billion in net income....... if a person were not able to see a problem right there.... then that person needs to check to see if they've changed their batteries lately......

also one only has to have a slight amount of common sense and figure out why MSFT is fighting every step of the way these new rules... if it is a "non-event at today's stock prices".....
