UPS will begin expensing the estimated cost of stock options as of its next option grant in April 2003; expensing of options expected to reduce diluted EPS in 2003 by $0.02, with full-year impact reaching $0.08 per share in 2006, when company expects to realize full effect of move.

You're absolutely correct Huey, if a company gives shares to an employee and the employee sells the shares the company has incurred no expense. The company's income has/will not change.
