Good morning, Jay. Feeling like my years in Nigeria.

Nigeria was the log where the termite cave in for the "lost decade" of Latin America.

Drinking Nescafe. Awaking very early to put thoughts in the computer.

"It is not just about the USD any more, it is about intrinsic value of all that we have worked for and saved..."

This is what the BBR thread is all about.

Hi Jay - I think we are seeing a debt-deflation spiral downward again (or, in the case of Japan, still.)

I am out of it completely. Except for the mortgage on our house, which we don't expect to sell for at least 20 years, we have zero debt. The interest rate on the house is at 6%, and with the nice fat tax deduction the US gives on mortgage interest, our monthly payments after tax are far less than comparable rentals.

Is the world crashing all around me? I dunno. My husband has a cushy job in Washington, and I am staying busy (not so busy in August, but that's the way it always is. Nobody needs or wants a lawyer in August, but after Labor Day, Katy bar the door.)

I see "help wanted" signs everywhere I go. That's a big change from the last couple of years.

As individuals people are clever. The danger is when individuals get together and become masses. Masses, release Barabbas and crucify Jesus Christ.

You get a Thomas Jefferson single handled to write the US constitution and makes a successful country. You get General Macarthur, to, again alone, write Japan's constitution, and makes another successful country. Masses approve invasions of Iraqs and carpet bombing of Afghanistans.

BBR is good. Brings views of INDIVIDUALS.
