Rob the citeful: what you or McInerney can't or won't do is give us your WHY-FI IPR play. You know, license fees, royalties, patents. Because you know more than we do that non-IPR entities are tremendous value providors. It's really the common good that matters not profits.

Well, well we are now back to 802.11!

First of all engineer had presented the economical facts about this subject rather well a short while ago....IT WON'T FLY as a free service in Mom and Pop stores supplying the equipment and maintenance for free or next to nothing. More importantly, FREE UNLICENSED SPECTRUM CAN BE COMPROMISED!!!

Recently, our company had a local 802.11 fixed wireless ISP set up our system. It ran great, until a competitor in the area decided to set up his own tower and JAM THE SIGNAL! And nothing is/ can be done about it. We had to rip out all the equipment after trying many things. New power amps, antennas, redirection of signal, etc.. Nothing worked.

May not happen all the time, but as a business we could no longer afford to "Hope to have internet today". Unfortunately, we ended up with satellite as there is no DSL or Cable service available.

If 3XRTT ever comes along, maybe the carriers will use their spectrum so efficiently as to create a fixed wireless side to their business.
