This has to complicate prospects for the Echostar/Hughes merger: 12:57 ET DISH EchoStar under investigation by state AG's for biz practices (16.18 +0.82) -- Update -- Co discloses in yesterday's 10-Q that in April 2002 two state Attorney Generals commenced a civil investigation concerning certain of DISH's business practices, and over the course of the next 3 months, 8 additional states ultimately joined the investigation; the states allege failure to comply with consumer protection laws based on the co's call response times and policies, advertising and customer agreement disclosures, policies for handling consumer complaints, issuing rebates and refunds and charging cancellation fees to consumers, and other matters.
