faced with Bush's failed economy and presidency.

Junior does not even want to show up in Central Texas anymore, he has to send for Laura (although Jenna's a bigger hit in town). Texas got Bushed first when he played governor and is still getting Bushed. His shoo-in of a senate candidate is now in a race too close to call.

Despite her claims that she's never much liked politics, first lady Laura Bush showed that she's got the hang of it Wednesday when she helped GOP Senate nominee John Cornyn take in more than $150,000.

....
The White House has thrown its full support behind Cornyn, knowing that if he loses, the Democrats could retain control of the Senate, and the president would suffer a political blow by losing a home Senate seat to a Democrat.

Recent polls suggest that the race between Cornyn, Texas' attorney general, and former Dallas Mayor Kirk is a dead heat.
