The US Government has generally opposed (in courts) the concept of private citizens suing foreign governments (apparently believing it's the Government's job - as the wielder of foreign policy - to do things like that).

I don't know if they have taken a position on this new suit yet but, in the past and currently, they have opposed in court the OK City survivors from suing foreign states, they oppose still the efforts of the former Iran hostages from seeking recompense, etc.

I'm sure there are many other examples, I just can't think of them now.

The question you might want to ask yourself is: "what is the Bush admin. going to do about this case?"

Hey where was the ACLU, and U.N for these guys?
Egyptian beheaded; Hands of Afghan, Syrian amputated in Saudi Arabia
An Egyptian man convicted of murder was beheaded Wednesday, the Saudi Interior Ministry said. Al-Hayel al-Sayed Mohammedain was found guilty of murdering Abdeen Mahmoud Mohammed, another Egyptian, by hitting him on the head with an ax, and of stealing his wallet, a ministry statement said.
Mohammedain was executed in the eastern city of Dammam, bringing to 31 the number of people executed this year in Saudi Arabia, according to The Associated Press.

Meanwhile, also on Wednesday, in two separate cases, an Afghan and a Syrian-Egyptian each had his right hand amputated after being found guilty of pick-pocketing in Islam's holiest shrine in Mecca, the ministry said.

Mohammed Nabi Rostum, an Afghan, and Ahmed Akash Abdul Kader, from Syria, stole from worshippers in the Grand Mosque in Mecca, the ministry stated. It did not say when the crimes had been committed, but said their hands were amputated in Mecca. (Albawaba.com)

"Why isn't the ACLU in on this?"

In my opinion it is because the ACLU is a warped organization that is bent on destroying all that is good in America. This lawsuit would not further that goal.
