You're right about Perot, he was unable to do more than be a gadfly, which was, and is, certainly necessary. And now is unable to even do that. With his land holdings and reliance on Texas politics he's been bought off, or fooled, and not much use to anybody. People are dying, and about to die in large numbers due to backroom-crafted policies of intervention that have no benefit to Americans. Better to have deliberations public, rather than yet another "October Surprise" for cynical political purpose, sacrificing lives and public treasury for short-term control of the media focus. Watch what happens this October. Those able to speak knowledgeably are more to be trusted than empty puppets, certainly. Those running the show from "undisclosed locations" are willing to commit lives and unwilling to be accountable. Deceiving the public and hiding information under false pretenses, is what it looks like from here. As far as a bet? How about -- by 2004 either Bush Inc. goes, or the administration changes its tune dramatically -- an end to the "Bush Doctrine" of eliminating world sovereignty, the Ashcroft TIPS campaign, revocation of Homeland's unlimited "Big Brother" features, and an end to the ability to have unlimited secret tribunals and executions for American citizens. That's a bet I'd hope to win I wouldn't put any money on it tho'... My "fanaticism" as you call it makes me less than confident in the near term success of our Republic. I'm prepared for several more years of secrecy and criminality in government, and the fight for daylight that requires.
