Right, I didn't make myself clear. I meant it was central to which category one belongs to, religionist or humanist.

I think you are perceiving some animosity on my part that doesn't exist. No one can help what they believe. We basically see the same evidence or clues, and you come to one conclusion and I come to another. We are both being true to ourselves. I have no problem with that, and would not respect you if you were to pretend to believe something that you don't.

However, just like Democrats and Republicans, finding ourselves in different camps as issues arise such as the source of moral authority, is going to place us at loggerheads at times. A good example would be our (no doubt) different attitudes toward homosexuality.

As to the debate over the origins of the universe per se, I mostly just find this to be a stimulating intellectual issue to debate. A lot of people do not, and don't even want to think about it. A lot of the people close to me would find it ironic, if not even laughable, if I have given you the idea that I am anywhere near to being a religious fundamentalist or fanatic.
