Imagine that, a POW having to "work hard." I guess it never occurred to your friend's father that "food was very little" because the Nazis had spent 5 years causing the destruction of Europe's means of production and infrastructure. It's a matter of historical record that America sent millions of tons of food to many European countries, including Germany, for many years after the end of WWII, paid for by the Marshall Plan. I guess pezz is right after all.
