I don't think this is necessarily so. Volume has been low across the board, so it's not necessary for huge new funds to be entering the market. Remember, not only are there all those thousands of alleged hedge funds trading in and out constantly, the big houses are doing it to.

By doing this, they can make the same few hundred billion dollars appear to be much more.

Good points.
What amazes me is the way the stock markets around the world are rallying. The big houses probably also see the big buyers on the way and don't want to stand in the way by being short.
...and the low volume can also be interpretted as not enough stock for sale.

What I am curious about is..when major portfolio occurs in the big pension funds (for example), what kind of money is involved? If we are talking about huge numbers, the individuals' mutual fund inflow/outflows that are tracked may be totally meaningless in comparison.

The other thing to consider is.....would a lot of short term traders (mini hedge funds) not already be short the Nasdaq in the 1300 to 1350 range given that we got a big bounce already from 1200.

Just wondering whether Zeev's 1500 target may be a pretty good near term.
