RE: "They are a commodity distributor..."

While there is some truth, here, the intriguing part is where it is not true. DELL has been very successful selling boxes. These boxes are evolving rapidly and have unlimited possibility. Not the normal description of a commodity.

Re: I think DELL is the biggest slam dunk short there is. They'll eventually be an electronic retailer like BBY or a contract mfg like FLEX. .5 times sales tops.
Right. Dell is not a tech company. They are a commodity distributor and will eventually be valued as such.

Great!

If the end products are commodities, (phones, computers etc.) and the semiconductors that go in them are commodities (DRAMS, microprocessors etc.) then all the profits from the growth of technology around the world will flow to the semi-equipment makers!

I think I'll go buy some more of these companies today!

DELL is probably getting ready to enter the printer/ink cartridge industry...wouldn't want to be short if that happens...

This is a common misconception that people have that haven't done their homework on the Dell supply chain. They are actually the most efficient manufacturer of technology equipment available thanks to a proprietary model which is almost impossible to duplicate. They are certainly NOT a distributor. Analysts understand this fortunately.
