re: pay as you go cell phone

Virgin mobile is advertising here now for that pay-as-you-go product, its obviously aimed at teenagers since the ads only appear on mtv. (not that many adults would want pay-as-you-go, anyway I guess). This stuff just showed up, like last week. Verizon has one too called free-up? Anyway I like the Virgin ads because they tout the rich content cellular... 2.5G? or whatever it is, with the picturephone and multicolor graphics.

Sprint here just started PCS vision ads and I asked Eric L on the openwave thread if this is the openwave product- same thing, picturephone + color, and downloadable to PC.

This stuff might be gadget-y, but when I saw the ads I realized that I as a consumer haven't seen too many "new" technologies that were exciting at first glance in a while, since the late 90s. I don't need a picturephone but the GPS stuff is going to be great on these.
