>>Ironically, wCDMA 3G data will be remarkably expensive when accounting all costs.. excessive infrastructure.. expensive, though buggy handsets.. spectrum.. royalties<<

Irony of ironies: It would NOT circumvent Q royalties... which was what it was originally designed to do!

BG and thread: Houston - Best Buy: 20.00hrs this evening.

Only the Sanyo about $179. They get a couple of A500s every so often, not yesterday, not today. they were expecting 2 A500s yesterday but they diodn't arrive. Not N-400s maybe soon but not sure.

Only seen one Trio.

The Toshiba has a TFT screen but its over $700. They have an A 500 demo and its sxreen is clearly better than the Sanyo. Decided to wait to see what the PCS store has.

Salesman has a Sanyo. Uses it for the Web. SAy he gets 50 Kbps but he says downloads are faster?????

Square display and the Voicestream is on the left hand side of the square, the PCS display is front and centre. Several people come in and ask about various PCS issues. Not so much activity on the Voicestream side.

Seems clear to me that PCS kept their promise about Summer but they are going to have to buidl up speed amd product over what looks to me like months at least till the Holidays.

The A 500 screen is great but the Sanyo has a built in speakerphone and so does the N -400.

Apart from the screeen I can't see why the A500 is a hit. I mean how does one take advantage of 155 Kbps with a device that size? No-one has given me an answer to that.

Salesman is also pushing 3G voice as opposed to 3G data. The 3G voice phones offer less drops so he say because the systems are heavily loaded but 3G voice is a solution to that?

A bit odd I thought since what if I didn't buy 3G voice. Do you get a discout for all the time the system is full or calls are dropped?

Anyway will reprot more after the PCS store.

Actually the Sanyo looks like great value except for the fantastic A 500 screeen.

Best,

L
