" I must admit VTSS is dear to me because of engineering rather than a nimble management. Some of that was long ago. Concerning Broadcom and PMC Sierra, caught in the same trap but with a somewhat different mix of products and financial structure. Financially and in terms of the industry BRCM and PMCS are better positioned. I've made a small bet on BRCM. I think AMCC is more directly competitive with VTSS. All the above names seem to be doing better than VTSS. I'm hoping VTSS has a better spring back. I really think 2004 will be good for the industry, lifting all boats. What a coincidence that it is an election year!!!!!!! OT: Yes, and VA is trying another stab at centralized ADP: supposed to take place Oct. 1. CIO loves anything BUT MSFT. Penguin on the desktop??? Perhaps. Sun servers first. Have mixed feelings: I did buy MSFT. OT OT: Now dream a little: what if a relatively inexpensive PDA could do cellphone, internet AND CABLE-TV over wireless broadband. It is being figured out as we "speak". I want one. - jk
