I don't know what the big deal is about "Republican" opposition. There were some pretty severe faultlines in the Bush 1 administration re offensive action into Kuwait before Bush 1 stated - "This will not stand". The same players are lining up along similar lines again. Also the Weinberger Doctrine with the Powell Corollaries (now called the Powell Doctrine by some) was Republican. This doctrine is being rapidly replaced by Rumsfeld, some Republicans probably still favor the old doctrine. And yes I think the NYT does slant, but I don't have the time or energy for that fight. :o}
