long-gone >I fully agree that there is no way to win & we are not being saved by the green extremists.

Undoubtedly, we are in a predicament, perhaps the biggest one that humans have ever faced. The whole thrust of contemporary society depends on energy, particularly from fossil-fuels, and now we are told that that's what's messing up the world. It may be true, it may not be true, The scientists don't know, they can only speculate and imagine, which is what most of science is about these days, just as religion was in by-gone eras. No-one trusts scientists just like no-one trusts priests, no-one who thinks, that is.

To aggravate the problem, and as you know, the global warming polemic has been politicized at every level --- from the "bunny huggers" (I know you like that term) looking at the uncut grass on your sidewalk and calling the EPA to arrest you to the have-not nations, with their politicians looking for hand-outs, intent on blaming the haves for all their misfortunes as a form of blackmail (pun intended). Of course, this polarization does not help anyone, in fact, it creates a state of conflict and contempt which is the last thing needed in the circumstances.

So, like most things in life, I presume the cards will fall where they may and each person will just have to protect himself in the best way he can --- from the heat and rain as much as from the politicians, "experts" and the do-gooders.

What's new?!
