To use your weather analogy, if the average rainfall in my area is so many inches per month, year or whatever time frame and currently we are way under or over that amount, would I be willing to bet the opposite side of that "trade"? Yes, I would and the size of the bet would be determined by the prevailing weather conditions and the time frames involved.
My definition of TA is more than moving averages, charting etc but I do believe that they can help. Basically I believe that there is more to the art of investing than just knowing the fundamentals. One of the analysts that I knew back in the '70's told me that he would tell me anything I wanted to know about the company (fundamentals) except where the stock price was going. I think you may be in a similar position and perhaps TA can help, perhaps not.
