pictures of the LG KH5000 1X EV handset.

800 mHz
2.4 Mbps
color
can swivel 270 degrees
choice of 88X72 176x144 or 352x288

can handle LMS (long message?) capable of 500 words. Too bad, still not enough to qualify as a short maurice message (smm).

One part that is worth translating:

"....the KH5000's 2.2 inches screen is super cool regardless of whether you are surfing the net or watching TV/Sports programs. At 2.4Mbps, we don't know how many times faster that is when compared to the nokia 9210c ...."

In my opinion, these seemingly insignificant articles can be far more important than just a pretty little handset.

SK launched their 1X EV trial network back in Feb 2002, with a Samsung handset. KTF launched theirs in May 2002. This LG KH5000 just won some best design of cdma2000 handset award in Korea. If this is the winner, I wonder how many other handsets are in the competition.

In comparison, we have vapor wcdma network using vapor wcdma handsets in Europe. We have 120,000 or so NEC and Panasonic wcdma handsets in Japan.

China got to watching this relative progress. What could China Mobile be thinking right now?

Come to think of it, does anyone know what is the progress of the two 1x ev trials in Korea? Isn't SKT intending on covering all major korean cities with 1x evdo by year end?
