If you always hold everything, then it does not prove anything.
If you never sell, then it does not matter what or when you bought,
it will always remain an unrealized gain (or loss)
I invest to make and take profits, so I can enjoy other things in life,
not to just accumulate a big pile of stuff to hold.

P.S. Holding silver since 1966 is 3.1% per year - would have done better in the bank ;)
