Comparing the performance of a 6502, 6800 or 8080a was even more challenging than comparing a PIII, P4 or Athlon...

But what's the alternative? How can we directly compare processors? With which chipset? What memory, DDR, DDR2, RDRAM? What FSB speed? Which apps? What compiler? Using SSE2 or not? The best attempt so far is SPEC but Droids squeal because AMD looks so bad. This suit is a joke and doesn't have a chance. AMD has far more to fear here than Intel. Intel simply reports a physical number that has been the industry standard for decades. AMD made up a new standard, which it won't define, with the intent to deceive, which misrepresents what the customer is shopping for (rightly or wrongly).
