Instead, we had the UN negotiate an impossible weapons inspection agreement. I'm sure it was a well meaning step but how can anyone have expected that this would be a doable situation over the long haul.

It worked for six years. Whether it works or not depends in part on the leadership in the United States. We didn't have any in 1998.

What........can you not read? I said "long haul"; not 6 years.
