"There's actually nothing bubble-esque about why the market is warming to Amazon again. After losing faith last year that the seven-year-old company would ever make money, investors are coming to realize that founder and CEO Jeff Bezos actually knows how to run a business. With a combination of innovative productivity enhancements and shrewd marketing, he and his team have reduced operating expenses 32% in the year ended June 30 while increasing revenues 17%. "

You just cannot convince me<G> Maybe the operating costs before were way out of line so a 32% reduction is still inadequate. It is easy to lower operating costs when the business was run poorly in the first place. The firm is going on 8 years old and is still not profitable. That must be close to a record. Let's give them a few more billion dollars to play with.

their Eruo ops are going gangbusters. And Eruo people are just now starting to buy online in big numbers.

(The cute Euruopeans are far behind the US in many respects, as you know.)

But still it won't save AMZN. They're doomed.

My wife used to use AMZN for a price check on a book or birthday gift she already knew she was going to buy. And since AMZN was often not competitive on price, she hasn't been checking there anymore.

She just drives to a store and buys it. Fine with me. Free shipping is meaningless when you can drive 10 minutes and buy it that day cheaper than amzn has it.
