"Peoples Daily" analysis of USA vs Saddam.

english.peopledaily.com.cn

There are some points that are worth noting that I think may be correct.

- Iraq regime fell out of favor with most of the Arab counties. It has regained some of the favor but is still paying for its mistakes.

- Saddam has "big tough guy" reputation and cannot be seen to lose face against USA. Otherwise though, he already has had enough taste for stirring up trouble with the USA, and is fretting how he can get out of the bind re weapons inspections without getting into further trouble. He appeared to be a worried man when I saw his face making that recent speech.

Article concludes

It appears that there is still opportunity for the international community to stop the United States from launching a fight against Iraq; and there is still hope for Iraq to flexibly adjust its diplomatic tactics in order to avoid taking a beating.

Looks as if the "Peoples Daily" thinks that the USA will kick Saddam's butt in any war imho.
