So who do you trust? The NY Times wants to sell papers. Fox wants viewers. Nobody's hands are clean. There may be another matter here too: The higher the security level of a prison, the more it will cost to run it. And the worse you make conditions, the higher the security level will have to be. Under Club Fed conditions, these guys are unlikely to try to escape or assault the guards. Under Pelican Bay conditions (to use a CA prison), you take what you get. So do you want to give white collar criminals half way decent conditions and lock them up for $15K a year? Or make them miserable and spend $60K?
