... to continue in the same vein as the previous post. You seem to be pessimistic regarding the readiness of the west to change our manners. Looks like the only way to spare the resources is to have less people with this uncivilized manner of guzzling what's still available.

I think the alternative is realistic. A tiny mosaic snapshot right out of my house: we collect garbage 6 (six) different ways:
a) organic
b) paper
c) plastic
d) metal
e) glass
f) the rest

a) and f) get collected alternative Fridays, b) and e) I bring to the collection site every Saturday and c and d they collect extra Monday mornings.

It's a system that eventually leads to the fact that 70% of the printed paper in Germany is recycled. Glass also in sizeable qualitities. etc.

So per capita resources cost of my kids... - you get the idea
