You need consumption to stop elsewhere so that you can can keep gorging on all resources.?

Look, the rest of the world got the babies, right? North America, Western and Eastern Europe (perhaps you dind't know that) are greying very fast.

Just got those babies surpluses and re-balance the populations, easy.

Me at 49 will not go anywhere to pay taxes to support the indigenous old population, my daughter -today 6 and half years old, given a first class ticket, a six-figure salary perhaps in 20 years would consider an offer to pay taxes to support the elderly.

My part I'm doing by having her in an International Schools wherever I go so that hang around with the kids of those countries... NZ, US, Australia, Germany, Sweden, England, Scotland etc. But I will tell her to recover my investment!

Neither of these things gonna happen.Telling the third world to reduce their population while we increase ours (no matter how we do it ) some how seems a little self serving to me.
Excuses such as population ageing will not fly.

The rich countries use the most resources per capita by far. They gotta be first to reduce their overall pollution /use of resources. It's laughable to assume that recycling or conservation alone is gonna solve things like CO2 emission, depletion of the oceans ,destruction of forests, etc.when put into the context of a world consisting of developed nations.

Try telling Brazil to stop cutting the rain forests while we have and continue to destroy the great deciduous forests that once covered our nation ( USA ) What percentage of forests are left in Germany?

No matter how you conserve the developed lifestyle is a massive use of resources and producer of pollution. Developed nations ain't goin back to the horse and buggy. They must reduce their impact on the environment. An actual reduction of developed nations populations will have to be a part of any plan that has any hope of success.

Until we do the poor nations are gonna laugh at our requests that they do so .As the third world comes into the twenty first century they will not be deterred from wanting all the goodies that we enjoy .Should they? When China brings it's Billion plus into the modern era do you think that they will listen to the developed world tell them they can't have what we take for granted?...Should they? It's gonna be a race to get whats left and with the help of new technologies it won't take long ...It's NOT different this time.

Malthus will be served.
