Believe UTSI's take on handset costs are way too high is handsets are kept very basic - small LCD and limited features. Believe CDMA will do well in densely populated areas.

I agree - I would think that it wouldn't take a lot of engineering to add 450 capability to any of Qualcomm's existing CDMA chips with ZIF architecture. My guess (could easily be wrong) is that the ZIF would allow the different frequency without the SAW filters - I thought it might still need a big antenna though so the handset might need to be a little different.
