Voters do care about their jobs and paychecks.

Running up the market worked during Clinton era because jobs were in plenty and people felt prosperous. They were also receptive to the new era talk.

Today there is skepticism and nervousness. May be they're in denial; but denial is NOT optimism. It is not easy to cheer up some one in denial!
