After waiting some time, I started adding to my gold miner positions today so it figures the POG is going down. I'll wait awhile before adding more.

GM recalls 720,000 cars, trucks partly due to airbag concerns

General Motors Corp said it is recalling 720,000 cars and trucks that may have a problem with their airbags which could result in a potential deployment of the airbag in the result of certain frontal collisions.

The Big Four auto maker said in a statement it is recalling 570,000 year 2000 Chevrolet Silverado pickups, Tahoe/Suburban sport utility vehicles (SUVS), GMC Sierra pickups, and Yukon XL SUVs.

A separate recall involves 150,000 model year 2002 and 2003 Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet, GMC, Oldsmobile, and Pontiac cars and trucks built between May and July 2002.

GM said, regarding the larger recall, that "these vehicles may have a condition in the air bag sensing and diagnostic modules that could interfere with the timing and sequence of air bag deployment signals."

"This could result in the non-deployment of driver and passenger side air bags during certain frontal collisions," the auto maker said.

Regarding the second recall, GM said "these vehicles may have driver's side airbag inflator modules that could fracture at a weld during deployment."

GM is asking owners of these vehicles to bring them in to their Chevrolet and GMC dealers, and stressed that there are no reports of crashes, injuries, or fatalities related to this condition.
