You will start to notice a shortage of dogs and cats in the neighbourhood. Then racoons, squirrels, robins and tweety birds will start to disappear. For a while things will seem the same as usual at your local MacDonalds, but after a while the employee roster will dwindle and when you ask about where the people have gone, you will get a guilty look and they will ask you if your hamburger tasted any different lately. This will go on for a while and you will see people volunteering to cut grass for free and you will notice the save the clippings in garbage bags and take them home. When you read the news there will be a column devoted to ice-cream wagon hi-jackings, and candy store holdups.

When people start to look at other people as alternative food groups, then you will know that tought times have set in.

Cook well, you never know where they've been.
