But the thing is, just as tulips were a bubble, and semiconductors were a bubble, and tech stocks were a bubble, gold was probably a bubble too.

Just in case you peek again...

Gold a bubble?

I'm not sure.
Perhaps an inverse bubble according to this longer term chart: stockcharts.com[h,a]daclyyay[d19950921,20020818][pb20!b50!b200!c13!c20!c50!i!d20,2!f][vc60][iUb14!La12,26,9!Lg!Li10,10!Lh5,5!Lp14,3,3!Ll14]&pref=G

If you want to look at a large bubble with signs of popping then you want to look at this chart of the US Dollar:

stockcharts.com[h,a]daclyyay[d19920921,20020817][pb20!b50!b200!c13!c20!c50!i!d20,2!f][vc60][iUb14!La12,26,9!Lg!Li10,10!Lh5,5!Lp14,3,3!Ll14]&pref=G

It may not happen tomorrow, next week or next month, but eventually that bubble will pop.

Compare the top of that US Dollar Chart to that of the S&P 500: stockcharts.com[h,a]daclyyay[d19920921,20020817][pb20!b50!b200!c13!c20!c50!i!d20,2!f][vc60][iUb14!La12,26,9!Lg!Li10,10!Lh5,5!Lp14,3,3!Ll14]&pref=G

Or the Nikkei: stockcharts.com[h,a]daclyyay[d19790921,20020817][pb20!b50!b200!c13!c20!c50!i!d20,2!f][vc60][iUb14!La12,26,9!Lg!Li10,10!Lh5,5!Lp14,3,3!Ll14]&pref=G

I'm still not convinced to be invested 100% into gold.
However, I don't see why having part of a portfolio hedged with it would hurt so badly...

But then again who knows.

Hi Jill! gold was probably a bubble too.

Darn right it was!

I was there in that bubble.......Didn't know when to fold "em there either.......Gold over 700.00 oz. (late 80's) Now that was a party JW would have enjoyed.........(also remember it at 40, early 70's

The possibility I see for gold is going to be if we go to war and he has spread all his predictions out to cover that I do believe......anywhere from now to 2 or 3 years. :-)
