<history of Afghanistan> U could back thru history to the days of Alexander the Great, and it would be a fair guess that the region currently called Afghanistan + Pakistan's NW Frontier Province, has for the most part worked (or not) along tribal lines and loyalties. The people there have rarely demonstrated "patriotism/loyalty to the country" - as we understand it. I dont have any links to point u to, but thats what I remember learning in history class when I was a kid. cheers, kumar
