Soviet Freighters in Hai Phong, and Red Chinese aid over the border while You Know Who sat on their hands is what lost the war. Add up what the US spent trying to prop up the south, and compare the total to what China, Russia, and Jane Fonda spent supporting the north. While you're at it, compare the total quantity and quality of armament supplied by the US to the ARVN with that supplied by any source to the North. If relative spending and quantity of external support were the issue, the ARVN would have won that war several thousand times over.
