the management of BRCM did an outstanding job of keeping a large % of the company for the insiders vs. handing it over to the VCs. Even after a bunch of selling, they still own more than insiders at a lot of other companies, just because they had more to begin with.

I'm not defending insider selling here, but imo it means less now than in 2000. There are competing investments out there at crash valuations like SV commercial real estate, Venture funds and the like.
