Pakistan has suffered by Wahhabi (Saudi sponsored) influence over the years while the Saudi's quietly were building an empire. You'll find the radical Muslim schools were conceived and funded by the Saudi's.

You'll also find President Musharraf is not an angel but he is not an enemy either. He initiated the coup when it was apparent the country was moving too hard line and corrupt.

I wouldn't include Pakistan as an enemy state. I would say they are on the firing line and Musharraf must crush the opposition radicals who support Al Qaida. It benefits Al Qaida more to destroy Pakistan because the ensuing confusion and the natural terrain benefits Al Qaida defense and movement. That's why a sortie now and again into India to keep the pot stirred and possibly initiate a war has been Al Qaida's calling card for that area.
