<<Bush would like Iraq to have a democratic government with some semblance of religious freedom. If he pulled it off it would be a monumental achievement. Most analysts maintain that Saddam's support is marginal at best.>>

It's a matter of timing like most things in life. Bush 41 had a mandate to get Saddam out of Kuwait and that's as far as it went. He did that and yielded to world pressure. That gave us 10 years of relative peace.

Now we are reacting to 9/11 and are looking around to crush our enemies like any wounded organism would. These are also the enemies to all freedom and democracy. We are short on allies at this time because they are afraid. Watch them sign on when the big dog kicks some ass.

Many leaders in the Mideast fear a democratic, secular Iraq because it would be the end for them. That is exactly what the world needs.
