I like that idea. First of all, even though there is a little dip in order input in the SEMI data for July, the backlog is increased by 158M. Total backlog increase so far in this positive cycle is 857M. Perhaps not as good as many would like, but I submit it is going in the right direction.

AMAT's backlog just reported at 3.3B is a pretty good number. As your chart shows, this is better than the last 5 quarterly reports from AMAT. Only in 3 quarters in the past has their backlog been higher. Even if the next quarter shows their backlog to be down a bit(which is not a given) they have "room" to absorb it. JMO
