Auckland airport is very modern but beggars don't bother with that - they go straight to the government websites to apply for various payments. Yes, you can get free housing [not subsidized]. Often, the state housing is burned down by some crazed tenant and they get a better one to burn down next time. Sorry, no modern amenities are provided. Just the basics of washing machines, stoves, television, - you have to provide your own internet services, though to fill the digital divide, the government is moving to provide free cyberspace too. Everyone is wealthy here - they vote themselves rich by voting for Hard Labour to rule Helengrad. You can grow your own beer, which is cheap, but two dozen beer bottles cost NZ$20 = US$10, which is not too bad. Mqurice
