It's quite entertaining watching the AMDolts make such a big deal out of this news. I see Niceguy already predicting $15 a share for AMD! This is what makes trading AMD stock (mostly on the short side, once reality sets in) so profitable. Of course, real news like crashing ASPs, lost mkt. share, poor back-to-school sales gets ignored by the AMD zealots.

So Kap, do you think AMD stock goes up or down from here??
You probably dont want to answer this question, because it could tarnish your reputation as an AMD-god on the moderated thread...

Kapkan, Re: "I don't know if you remember but I was telling meanibees here about hot spots on Willamette die over two years back."

And yet, you claim that you have read articles on viable solutions. Is a problem really "problematic" if there are solutions available? Are Intel's "hot spots" preventing them from scaling the Pentium 4, or in other way from executing to their roadmap? All I see is roadmap acceleration quarter after quarter. AMD vapor launches two new Athlons, but watch as Intel delivers two new Pentium 4 chips on Monday. They are already appearing on Pricewatch.

Re: "Anyhow, with the latest Athlon overclocking to 2.8GHz, there is a long hot Xmas season for Intel."

Funny. Right after beleaguering over "Hot spots" in the Pentium 4, you act as if AMD is immune to these problems. Didn't Tom's Hardware mention new guidelines from AMD on cooling?

tomshardware.com

How hot will the Athlon be at 2.8GHz? Can they even clock it that high at 1.65V?

Sorry, Kap, but with all the double-speak, you are again losing credibility with me. Personally, with your first hand experience with Intel, I'd like to be able to take your word on things.

Kap, <I was telling meanibees here about hot spots on Willamette die over two years back.>

And despite that, Pentium 4 has scaled very well in clock speed. Remember Bert McComas claiming that P4 at 1.7 GHz always thermal-throttles whenever performance is most required? What a bunch of baloney that was.

You still never answered my question from last week:
