Elmer, Well, smaller features make for more stuff packed in, so that means they all hew towards more capable parts.
The small ttl parts will probably not go too far down in size due to fan out limitations, same with linear parts that need some level of current to source/sink,(I do not think Intel makes much of this at all, but some of their network stuff needs drive current) but logic can get smaller and smaller and if Intel does not have new products to make in expanding volume to offset die size reductions and the 300MM Si discs they will soon end up overfabbed.
